myCalSTRS Third-Party Acknowledgement
In an effort to improve security and protect my information, The California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS) has implemented a web based authentication process for all new and existing web users. As part of this process I will be required to create or reaffirm my username and password. I understand that in order to establish or reaffirm my username and password, CalSTRS has contracted with a third party vendor to access non credit data sources to authenticate my identity and facilitate the processing of this request for my online account access with CalSTRS.
I also understand that, if possible, I will be asked a series of questions based on this non credit information. In order to generate this series of questions, I am required to provide my Name, Social Security Number, Date Of Birth and Address. Once I have successfully authenticated myself to CalSTRS, I will be required to create or reaffirm my username and password and accept the CalSTRS website terms and conditions.
Once I have accepted the terms and conditions, I will be introduced to CalSTRS newest security enhancements. These new features provide an additional layer of security when I login to myCalSTRS, allowing CalSTRS to recognize me, and me to recognize CalSTRS. I will be asked to:

Select and answer a number of hint questions that will be used in case I forget my username or password; |
2) |
Select a memorable image ("SiteKey") and a word or phrase ("Personal Phrase") associated with the image; and |
3) |
Provide a valid email address if I do not already have one on file. |
The SiteKey and Personal Phrase will be displayed every time I log in, and will be my visual indicator that it is safe to enter my password; and the email address will be used to notify me of any changes that are made to my information.
